Four annotated online pictures

This photograph seems to be of slates that overlap one another in an irregular order. The variation of shades on the slates are not in any sort of pattern, they have just been placed down to create a texture that's rigged and rough. It's clear that this surface isn't smooth or sleek because each slate would cause a bump when a person's hand is being run across it. The slates may have a flat surface, however they're texture is rugged and harsh because they're solid materials used in the building process.

The textures in sweets can be a selection of surfaces as not all sweet treats are as rough and bumpy as these ones in the photograph above. The sugar beads layered over the sweets are what creates this rugged effect when their surface is touched. The texture these sweets contain do not remain there as they're being eaten. The sugar beads dissolve to leave a smooth jelly texture which is the opposite to the texture it started with in the beginning.

The smooth juicy texture is clearly visible in this photograph of an orange slice infront of a black background. The light emphasises the succulent layers of squishy texture hidden within this orange. The skin of the orange comes across as being hard yet smooth, whilst the contents of the orange is clearly filled with a flesh texture.

This photograph of a snakes skin will aware the audience of it's texture immediately. From first glance the audience can tell that the snakes body is a solid surface, even though it may come across as looking like it has soft squishy features. The snake's scales are evident when line is being shone on them. The scales' texture looks bumpy but silky and polished at the same time, so overall this snake's surface is smooth yet slightly bumpy and solid.

My definition of 'texture': Materials with a surface that have a range of consistency's such as soft and smooth or strong and rough.
