Connecting Essay 2

Internet Photograph

This image explores photography from a completely different angle. The person behind this picture has captured it from their perspective of looking directly down at the floor. From this photograph I, and many other viewers would class this person as being a female from the leopard pattern printed on the inner section of her coat. Pretty much every female loves autumn for the cosy sweaters, warm drinks and the Christmas countdown. Taking a picture with autumn coloured leaves is most popular with females than it is males. She's located her feet around an assortment of leaves, all of baby brown shades to emphasie the season. The exposure levels on this photograph have been increased to create a less harsh image, it's also an effect that produces flattering lighting; again used mostly by females.

My Photograph

This photograph of mine has been taken from me looking down at the floor. From where it's positioned it looks as though someone else is looking down at it, if the image was flipped the other way it would look like my perspective of the ground. The message "autumn colours" is being screamed out from this image. The clothing that I'm wearing are all popular shades worn by those during the colder months; khaki, baby brown and plum/burgundy. I am also posiitoned above damp leaves, fresh leaves and dying leaves. The range of colours varies from yellow, green and brown which all portray autumn. I like how the seasons can be told through photographs like these. just from outfits and colours.

The Connection

There are many connections that are noticeable in these two pictures. Both have been taken by just a normal individual because we are both dressed in casual clothing; nothing fancy for a specific photoshoot. The angle that I have taken my photograph is almost identical to the internet version, if only she'd have lifted her camera up higher and more faced towards her figure. The leaves scattered beneath our feet all share similarities in shades, to portray the autumnal season. It is evident that the both of us are also outdoors as I am wearing a jacket and scarf, whilst she is wearing a coat. Neither photographs are beaming with colour to portray the chilly season, as colour is stereotypically associated with summer.
